Starting the therapy journey can be scary.
I’m so glad you found your way here.
Welcome.
We cannot ignore our pain and feel compassion for it at the same time.
-Brene Brown
Hi, I’m Colleen. I’m so glad you’re here.
However you found your way here, and for whatever reason: welcome.
Maybe you are at a time in your life in which you are questioning all that you held to be true.
Maybe you are feeling lonely, or are wanting more access to that small voice inside you that knows the way to go, but often gets ignored.
Maybe your partner has told you it’s difficult to connect with you and that you aren’t emotionally available.
Maybe you are pregnant and need support in this season of life.
Maybe you are struggling with infertility.
Maybe you are finding that staying regulated as a parent is the hardest thing you could imagine.
Whatever brings you here, it takes courage to take the first step and begin. I believe that much of our sorrow and struggles are rooted in relational experiences in our past, and that similarly, there is healing to be found in not remaining alone in your experience. I would be honored to participate with you on this journey as you find healing and restoration.
A bit about me: I received my Masters of Art in Counseling Psychology in 2010 from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. After living and working for over 12 years in Seattle, my family and I packed up and moved back to my childhood town in Ohio. I’m happy to be back to the land of fireflies and thunderstorms!
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio, and I have 14 years of experience working in various counseling settings. I’ve worked in domestic violence organizations, a homeless shelter, college settings, with families affected by cancer, in a private practice setting, led retreats and finally, in immigration cases writing psychological evaluations for persons seeking asylum. Each setting has shaped the way I work and each have enriched my view of the world and what it means to seek out healing.
How I work: I work creatively and collaboratively with each client. I seek to offer a warm, affirming, and engaging environment. I offer space to sit in the heavy and hard moments of your life with presence, tenderness and hope, while also helping you to grow your resiliency and your ability to offer yourself grace and tenderness.
Still want to know more about my work?
My work is informed by Attachment Theory, British Object Relations (a branch of analytic psychology), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Relational Therapy, Trauma Informed, Somatic Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
Additional trainings: I participated in an Object Relations consult group led by Tom Saunders in Seattle for 2 years, which informed and deepened my practice. I have sought out supervision for the majority of my time in private practice, even after attaining licensure (before which supervision is required) in order to deepen my clinical skills and learn from seasoned therapists in the field. I currently have monthly consulation meetings with Pam Van Dalfsen. Previously, I received supervision at various points from Nancy Murphy, Doug Hansen and Steven Call, all respected therapists in Seattle.
Whatever brings you here, I would be honored to walk with you
as you seek to better understand yourself and come home to
yourself.
